Denise entered the cat fancy in 1974 as the proud owner of her first pedigreed cats,a cameo and a shaded silver Persian. In 1976 Denise began breeding Persians under her Limerick prefix. In 1988 the Bobbysocks prefix was granted under which Denise breeds Red, Cream, Tortie & Tabby Point Birmans. A proud moment for Denise was when her Blue Tortie Tabby Point female Birman AoE PLATINUM DGC Bobbysocks Pollywaffle was awarded Best All Breeds Entire Cat & Reserve All Breeds Entire Cat at the ACF National show in Darwin in 2003. Another big winner for Denise was PLATINUM DGC Bobby socks Cat–riona in Red, a Red Pt female Birman which placed in all 4 kitten rings (3rd, 3rd, 4th, 9th) at the ACF National show in Perth in 2004, then at 10 months of age was awarded Reserve Cat in Show at the CCCA National show in Brisbane 2004 and in 2008 she won Best Group 1 Adult & Reserve Group 1 Adult at the CCCA National show in Brisbane.

Denise gained her judge’s licence with QFA Inc in 1987 and has judged in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, SA and NZ.

Denise is currently Secretary/Treasurer for Flash Felines, a position she has held since the foundation of the Club. Previously Denise has served in various positions including Assistant Secretary of QFA Inc, Delegate to QFA Inc Council for an affiliate Club, Secretary of QFA Inc Judges Association, Vice President of ACF Judges Guild, Secretary of Birman Cat Fanciers of Qld, President of Sun City Cat Club (Townsville). She is currently the Treasurer of QFA Inc. and Secretary of the QFA Judges Association.

Denise has temporarily retired from full time employment but is still a ’host–mother’ for international high school students and has started a business doing pet minding in peoples homes.. Denise still enjoys showing her cats, socialising with friends and following the NRL competition.
