Significant Events in the History of the Australian Cat Federation (ACF) Inc.

Special Moments

As the COVID pandemic continued into 2021, the ACF National Show and meetings were cancelled for the second time, the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy of Victoria and Australia (GCCFV) were to be the hosts, in place of a physical show they suggested a Virtual Cat Show with support from Royal Canin and OzPet, ACF’s major sponsors. Judges from New Zealand, South Africa, United States and the United Kingdom were invited to participate. The ACF Virtual show attracted entries from 64 exhibitors with 120 pedigree cats, 20 companions’ cats and 27 rainbow bridge cats entered. Entries were received from all states and territories.

Due to the pandemic, ACF was unable to hold any physical meetings and in early 2021 held its first electronic meeting, and in July the Federation held its annual meeting and general meeting in addition the ACF Judges Guild held its meeting the first since 2019 all via this new electronic media platform. The 2021 World Cat Congress was cancelled which was to be hosted by its member GCCF and was to celebrate the anniversary of the first cat show held at London’s Crystal Palace in 1871.
